Suicide is an often-preventable tragedy, and prevention relies on trained and prepared healthcare staff who see suicide prevention as part of their role. MGMC is committed to implementing training and clinical processes to address the prevention of suicide across its programs. All staff who interact with patients have a role in preventing suicide.

This session for staff working in non-clinical roles of patient support, administration, reception and others addresses the basics of suicide risk and response. It will explore the attitudes we hold regarding suicide, a basic understanding of suicide and high risk groups as well as the common warning signs indicating possible suicide risk. A key component is a clear understanding of resources and personnel to turn to for help with a patient at increased suicide risk.
