Christine Canty Brooks
Director of Peer and Family Programs
Christine trains and coordinates the implementation of all peer and family programs including support groups, Family-to-Family and peer education, NAMI Homefront, NAMI FaithNet, as well as providing support and technical assistance to NAMI Maine Affiliates and volunteers. She works in conjunction with the Affiliates and other stakeholders to facilitate mental health systems change in local communities and is responsible for maintaining and expanding NAMI Maine’s grassroots programs and services for peers, family members and veterans.
Christine came to NAMI Maine over 4 years ago because of the important role NAMI played in her own life. Previously she was the project director for two federally-funded suicide prevention grants, worked in HIV prevention and in the mental health field, and was a jeweler and co-owner of a custom jewelry store. She holds a degree in Social Sciences but it is her passion for making a real difference for everyone whose lives are affected by mental illness that drives her work.
