Christopher Carr

MHFA Coordinator

Christopher joined NAMI Maine in June 2014 as the MHFA Coordinator. In this role Christopher coordinates Mental Health First Aid trainings utilizing the Youth, Adult, Law Enforcement, Rural, Higher Ed, Veteran, or Older Adult models. He is also involved with NAMI Homefront for service members, veterans, and their families.

As the Mental Health First Aid Coordinator, Christopher assists with building the infrastructure for a statewide Mental Health First Aid Program (MHFA). He coordinates all MHFA trainings, from initial outreach, and space identification, to scheduling trainers, and preparing training materials. Christopher also implements and maintains the national curriculum, database, and participant files. He supports the writing and procurement of grants both state and national, and helps NAMI Maine meet all deliverables for those grants. Through his work he is able to forge relationships with other state and local entities to help bring MHFA trainings to all locations of Maine.
Christopher has a diverse background that includes 8 Years in the United States Navy operating a Missile defense system and participating in three separate war zones, working as a field engineer for Raytheon supporting the Greek Navy in Athens, supporting MIT Lincoln Labs as a support engineer on a national R&D effort to prevent aviation hazards, and working as a Substance Abuse professional in a institutional setting. He grew up in the great state of Vermont and owns a home in Winter Haven, Florida.
In his spare time, Christopher volunteers for number of environmental and social organizations. He is a professional tutor, and facilitates workshops on sustainability as adult enrichment classes. Christopher enjoys the movies, TED Talks, and spending spare time at a hermitage in Camden, Maine. He has traveled throughout Europe and been able to see and experience some of the natural & built "wonders of the world."
