On Saturday, May 11th, 2013 - hundreds of riders will band together for a ride in a fundraising and awareness raising event.
The Ride for Mental Health is a motorcycle fundraising and awareness raising event for the Maine Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. 100% of the funds raised by ride participants directly benefits NAMI Maine, allowing us to continue to provide free support, education and advocacy for all those whose lives have been affected by mental illness.
The ride will start in Lewiston, Maine at L/A Harley and continue for 35 miles through the cities and towns of Auburn, Mechanic Falls, Oxford, South Paris and ending at the beautiful Greenwood Mountain Inn in Hebron, where participants will enjoy a free BBQ.
Mental illness affects more people than all of the cancers combined. The Institute of Medicine’s 2006 Quality Chasm report says that mental health and substance use conditions are the number one cause of death and disability in the nation. Indeed, at least one person you know will struggle to find help for a mental health condition this year. For the past 25 years, NAMI Maine has been providing support, education, and advocacy to make sure that people get the help they need, when and where they need it. All of our services are provided FREE.
