NAMI Maine strives to have our youth-focused programming shaped and delivered by young adults. As an entity based on lived experience, it is critical that we develop a strong group of younger leaders to further our mission. Early intervention is critical. As a society, we must normalize conversations with youth about mental health.

Young adults who participate in the Youth Mental Health Advocacy Leadership Institute will gain the skills to impact the services and supports available to youth and young adults in Maine.

Youth attendees will: 

They will have the ability to tell their story, facilitate youth support groups, deliver testimony during the legislative session, and serve in leadership roles both at the state and local Affiliate levels.

Fridays March 13th and March 27th: 5:00 pm – 8:00pm
Saturdays March 14th and March 28th: 9:00am – 6:00 pm
Sundays March 15th and March 29th: 9:00 am – 1:00pm

Institute is for youth ages 16 - 23.
Institute participants MUST attend both full weekends in order to receive certification.


Overnight hotel accommodations OR a $30 stipend are available to participants traveling farther than 70 miles one-way to Augusta.
